Chapter Selection - Extra Material - KAS Project - Smack Jeeves Hub
"Meet the Kirby Adventure Squad: a group of Kirbies who take requests from random clients and attempt to complete them! And mostly fail miserably!"
So I wrote, back in one fated day on May 2nd, 2010. Kirby Adventure was my main project and creative output from the timespan of 2010 to August 11th, 2017. Starring a cast of recolored Kirby characters that I had invented, it lasted 8 years of my life and garned a wide following on Smack Jeeves, eventually becoming the website's most popular Kirby comic until the site was shut down in 2020. The comic lasted 700 pages and, while not my first foray into comic-making, it was certainly my most prominent and important.
This was the comic that taught me how to write, how to interact with my peers and followers, and in some ways most important, how NOT to write. It was incredibly important to me, and losing the Kirby Adventure archive once Smack Jeeves exploded was perhaps my biggest disappointment. Being able to put it back up publicly here is very exciting to me, and I'm glad people new to following me (or old fans who wanted to give it a reread) will be able to experience everything this comic had to offer.
Don't be discouraged by its appearance, I'll be doing my best with this archival to make it accessible to readers new and old. Similar to some of the other SJ comics I've reuploaded, this Kirby Adventure archive will come with newly-made annotations and modern commentary, to help illustrate some of my thought processes at the time, provide extra context, and make things clearer for those unfamiliar with the Kirby franchise.
In addition, thanks to efforts made in 2020 before Smack Jeeves shut down, I actually have archived the entirety of the original KA comments sections! Originally, fellow SJ users were able to leave comments on each individual page, as one might expect from an online webcomic, but those would've been lost to time had I not gone out of my way to preserve them, with help from a program created by LasOz. Thanks to that program, and with help from a text-modifying program from BraixenFan to format all of the comments properly, I'll be able to put up the original comments as much as I can for additional context for how Kirby Adventure originally felt to read at the time of release!
Throw in a few miscellaneous never-before-seen bonus pages for some of the earliest chapters, as much bonus material as I can scrounge up from my personal folders, the complete crossovers, and the more recent KAS Project-related content, this is the ideal way to experience, re-experience, and/or reminisce on some classic Kirby sprite comic fun! So whether you're an old fan or a new reader, pull a chair and hopefully enjoy my first Big Thing.
Oh, and for the record, it may seem unnecessary, but of course, I do not actually own Kirby or any of the copyrighted material in here, including the vast majority of the sprite artwork. The majority of material here officially belongs to Nintendo and HAL Laboratory, and this usage of it is not officially endorsed or supported by Nintendo in any capacity. This is a fanwork created without any profit or financial benefit, and would not be a suitable replacement for actually playing any Kirby video games yourself.
