Welcome to 20 Times Kirby. What the heck is going on? Let's elaborate:

First things first: the premise of 20TK was more story-focused than the gag-a-day Kirby's Dream Adventure, so for the most part, it's story events mattered more to the comic. I won't give a rundown of every bit of the original comic, merely what's relevant for these pages.

The conceit of 20 Times Kirby was that the character of Kirby went through a experimental mishap caused by the villainous Marx (originally the final boss of Kirby Super Star). The mishap caused Kirby to get cloned into 21 separate entities, each a new individual Kirby with their own permanent power-up. These were all of the available copy abilities in Kirby Super Star Ultra (with a couple of rare, special abilities all pushed into one of the 21 characters).

The event caused Kirby to lose his memory, and none of the clones were originally aware of their creation either, aside from one. The clones all got split up and spread out, forming friendships and rivalries of their own, before eventually the amnesiac Kirby eventually noticed these new Kirbies and found them all highly mysterious.

The inciting incident of the comic is Kirby sending a message to 20 of the 21 clones arranging a meeting, where the mystery of their existence is first introduced. A few segments into the comic brings in Marx and explains the backstory behind the characters, and then the characters just keep living together for a while before this specific segment, Adding the Venture, began.

So, these two characters here are Daisy and Anny, the Beam and Mirror copy ability clones specifically. They are friends, with Daisy being an eccentric scientist and Anny being her foil. The location they're in is in Daisy's room in the stereotypical Green Greens Hut that got modified into a large house to room the 23 main protagonist characters (20 main clones + Kirby + 2 other Kirby friends).

There's a lot more to elaborate on, but there's also a lot more pages of Adding the Venture to put those annotations on, so I'll save some info for later too.

Ok, first of all, yes, I know the chapter title is a TERRIBLE pun, but that was my best idea for it, so don't complain or blame me. :(
Second, this is the start of a different chapter, a special chapter. This is the start of the crossover between this comic and Kirby Adventure! So, if you already read both, excellent, keep doing that. If you only read this comic, I'd recommend you to at least read the crossover chapter of both comics, if not read the whole KA. This will go like the other crossover which already happened in KA, where both comics update simultaneously, while each author focus on their own comic universe. Ulti's segment hasn't started yet, but keep an eye on his comic!
And third of all, I've finished Sticker Star this Saturday, and yes, I loved it. And the replay of it seemed for me better than the others (except the original Paper Mario, since I've never even played it), and the gameplay was the best thing on it (STICKERS!). I missed a bigger plot and experience points, but it's still a good game. You should get it if you can. :P

KAS my favorite comic!!!!

A very important thing worth bringing up before it raises any potential eyebrows is the grammar of the comic. See, Gigi's first language is not English, she's from Brazil and speaks Portuguese as a result. Her English is quite good, and has definitely improved a lot in the past decade as well, but it's something to keep in mind when reading her pages. There are some grammatical oddities, phrasing that sounds just slightly off even if it's not technically incorrect, and various other minor quirks.

Considering she was a teenager writing a comic in a different language that she was still in the process of learning, I'd say she was doing a bang-up job, and my argument to any complaints about it would always be the same: Why don't YOU try writing in Portuguese and see how YOU like it if you take issue with her grammar?

Anyways, unlike the previous crossover, the inciting incident of this comic was one that began on the 20TK side. Gigi and I had agreed to set it up so that her inventor character, Daisy, would cause an accident that simultaneously swapped a few of our cast members. Since the events were unintentional compared to last time, it made for a bit of an interesting dynamic for the two segments' plots, but we'll get to that.

For now, she was setting up the machine that would malfunction, and I was messing around with the characters as a bit of a character-focused delaying tactic while I waited for my opportunity to send my characters over to Gigi.

One other tiny thing to mention is one of the ways in which Gigi made her comic, like, the actual act of doing so. In Kirby Adventure (and most of my comics in general), when I swap up text sizes, it usually relates to how loud a character is speaking, though for KA pages, it would also happen if I just simply needed to fit text into a panel, so it's a bit unreliable of a rule on my part already.

For Gigi, though, she had similar vibes of "large text = talking louder, smaller text = talking softer", but she also had her own quirk of breaking that rule, it's just a different quirk to my own. When she did close-up panels, the font would just naturally become larger, as if it was being resized alongside the characters themselves. It doesn't mean they're talking louder, it's just a visual quirk.

Two more things to note about 20TK:

Like I mentioned earlier, there were 21 clones made of Kirby, and 20 of the 21 became main protagonists who lived together in a large house in the traditional Green Greens Hut. These 20 Kirbies all lived with The Main Kirby, as well as two other friends of Kirby.

Keeby and Kirsy are those two friends, characters who follow a bit more of a KDA-esque naming convention than the names of the clones (which are all just regular old names). We know two separate Keebies, and this is a third one who, much like KDA's Keeby, is of a golden coloration rather than a yellow-and-red canonical coloration that I used in The Beginning.

20TK Keeby is a bit of a pathetic but well-meaning friend of Kirby, who suffers from selective, recurring-yet-temporary, amnesia. He doesn't really show up in the crossover though, so, like he would, you can just forget about him. Kirsy, meanwhile, is an original character, and a purple-colored friend of Kirby who's kind and protective. Think of her, essentially, as a comparison to Saia. You'll see her in a bit.

The other thing to note about 20TK is that, on the original Smack Jeeves website, Gigi would give every page what was called 'alt text'. Basically, if you hovered over the image, a little text blurb would show up to read, it's just something websites can do in general.

Since that's just not a thing that my pages ever did, and I didn't want to have that feature feel like a hidden aspect of this reupload, I've simply taken the original alt texts and added them to the Author's Comments sections. They're nothing substantial, but hey, preservation is preservation!

Well, actually, no. While creating the kirbies, I didn't make them based off of anyone I know. The only character that was really based off of someone I know is Isa, totally on purpose, and Lindroganti was kinda based on my bro, since he created him and never made up a personality for him, so I had to. And as a curiousity, we discussed about that yesterday, and we found out that my bro's personality is a mix of Drake's, Jake's, Valoo's, Yan's, Kixty's and obviously Lindroganti's, while mine seemed more Raven's, Tim's and Zan's. And to be honest, I think I've already used me and my bro as examples for these characters' actions and reactions.

YEEEEESSSSSS!!! I'M SO HYPED FOR THIS!!! EVEN IF I'VE ALREADY READ THE KAS SIDE!

All of the Kirbies here are, as you might have expected, clones of Kirby who all have the various power-ups and whatnot. I won't give a massive write-up here, I'll only bother to explain the clones who are relevant on pages where they become relevant.

For now, the important thing to note is that Daisy's teleporter malfunctioned, and send her and 7 unwilling others to the Kirby Adventure world. Those 8 characters will be the ones I work with, while Gigi will work with the 5 I had going on a race.

You can see how this was a bit of a malfunction compared to its intended purpose, given that it was meant to just send Anny, but instead fired at the wrong interval of time AND sent out 8 instead of 1. That'll take quite a fix.

Speaking of which I bet Daisy would love to get on know Wilson from the Don't Starve series.

All things considered, since I was sending my Kirby over to Gigi but she wasn't sending me hers, combined with her comic's premise of cloned Kirbies... Yeah, this was just a smart joke to immediately start out with. It at least helps round out what is otherwise a bit of an information overload for the unfamiliar KA-focused reader.

I've already explained Keeby and Kirsy in a previous annotation, and since the other clones are functioning more like a bit of a group than anything specific to their characters yet, I'll refrain from explaining the green Plasma Kirby and two cap-bearing Kirbies for now.

However, one comment I WILL explain is the green Plasma Kirby thinking "Leo, what happened to you?" That's meant to indicate that the green one is looking at Kaxo and being confused, mistaking him for the character Leo (who got sent to KA). Both Leo and Kaxo have the same exact color palette, because both are based on the Fire copy ability, but the only difference is that Kaxo's fire power isn't permanently active.

Thus, the green Plasma Kirby here sees Kaxo, confuses Kaxo for Leo, and is wondering why Leo doesn't have his Fire ability. See, now it makes sense.

Huh, well, this update is kinda late compared to the time I usually post the comics... The reason is that I made this comic today, and honestly, I don't remember the last time I made a page and posted that same page in that day... The reason is that I was gonna make this page yesterday, but I got very sick, and went to the hospital. Last night I wasn't in the mood of making a comic. Then I made it today but... I finished it almost right now. Mainly because another thing got in the way. The author comic I'm part of, Abbimays Randomness, got "hacked". To be honest, most of us, authors, didn't believe it. Last time it happened, Abbi got hit by a car, then died, then she said it was her sister tricking us, then her account got hacked, then everything got back to normal. But then, the whole thing seems to be happening again, almost the same... She said her sister stabbed her neck with a pen, in Disney Land. Ok. But then she tells it by the internet? The last thing I would do in the hospital would be use an laptop. Maybe I would ask someone to tell the people I only know by the internet about it, but with a hole in the neck, I wouldn't use a laptop. Then (maybe I might be wrong) she gets out of the hospital the day after, then her account gets hacked too? Sorry, this might be true, but Abbi didn't really explain us everything then. Unless she can convince me for real this time, I'm not going to believe it, mainly after the first time. Also, the comic got deleted. Yes. Was it the hacker, or Abbi, since we had lost all ours perms? We don't know, and maybe we never will. But since this whole thing was happening, we decided to create another comic, just in case. I didn't reread all of 20 Times Kirby before making these annotations, so since it's a 10-year-old comic that I didn't personally make, that does mean that I don't remember all of the details.

On that note, I don't really remember who Lindroganti is. I know he's a light-green-colored Kirby, and based on the context, he could disguise himself and probably pretended to be another Kirby at one point in a previous segment. Since his name was a bit of a mouthful, Lindroganti also got nicknamed Drogan as well.

Aside from that, I don't recall his specifics, but on the plus side, he doesn't even show up in the crossover anyway, so... aside from this blurb, he's not really relevant! Woo.

Also, yay, MORE Kirbies to keep track of, but I DON'T CARE BECAUSE THESE ARE MY FAVORITE KIRBIES! (Except Kieto's not here, ):)

The confusion about what makes an interdimensional traveling machine seems a bit odd to me, personally, but perhaps it's just the part of me that doesn't care for ignorance in characters even when it's entirely reasonable. What can I say, I like it when characters know and understand things lol

Regardless, this all finally got the information to this set of characters that they've traveled to another world, and on the plus side for the KA cast, most of them have had experience with it thanks to the previous crossover. To an extent, that was a boon that allowed for Gigi to move past a bit of otherwise-awkward reactions that she'd have needed to focus on.

Instead, she was able to just kinda get it out of the way here, and move onto character interactions going forward, which was helpful I think in the long run.

The other thing worth mentioning is that Gigi, out of the three "main" KSSU-styled Kirby comics on Smack Jeeves (KA, KDA, and 20TK), was the author who least used an authorsona in her comics. I tried not to do so much, but then Tear in the Fabric happened and kinda killed my credibility on that lol. But even Gigi wasn't immune to it, so when KA Kirby mentions KA Gigi looking like the Mirror-using Anny here (and they do share similar palettes, mostly with hat/shoe color tweaks), Gigi's authorsona (who looks identical to KA Gigi) popped in to joke about there not being a similarity. It's meta, it's silly, it doesn't really matter in the long run, but here I am explaining it because what else am I supposed to do in here, NOT be overanalytical? As if.

Second, I would like to advertised two comics, both original comics, and both from friends of mine. The first one is from contradiction123 and is called "The Game". Basically, a girl gets a new game called "The Game", and then she dies. Then the thing starts for real. Contra had this idea last year, but only now she claims to have a good start for the comic. Dedoo is a character from a previous 20TK chapter, and was introduced in the chapter that explained the backstories of the Kirby clones.

The way that the clones worked is that Marx copied them out of Kirby using a machine, but they were incomplete and only partial clones. Marx deemed them useless and tossed them aside, flinging them who-knows-where. The clones were semi-transparent and vaguely incorporeal, up until someone else touched them.

If a particular type of creature touched one of the incomplete clones (i.e., any Kirby enemy that would provide a copy ability to Kirby if swallowed in-game), then the clone became a partial clone of said character as well. They gained that particular ability, and took on colorations and personalities similar to the being who touched them.

In the backstory-explaining chapter, these other characters were called Sources, and all 21 clone characters had their own Source. Dedoo is a Waddle Doo who was an eccentric inventor (and, in fact, he might've been the one to build the cloning machine that Marx took? Don't quote me on that though).

Waddle Doos being the enemies that provide Kirby the Beam ability, and based on everything you can likely surmise that Dedoo is Daisy's Source. But TL;DR, Dedoo is a character with the exact same powers and similar vibes to Daisy, and as such would be able to help fix a Daisy invention.

Nope. But now that you say it, it would make sense whichever Kirby it pointed to...

While my end of the plot was silly shenanigans with the Squad rounding up the lost 20TK cast, Gigi took a bit of a different direction with her own plot. Since her comic was the most story-focused of the trio of comics that were involved in these various crossovers, she had the least excuse to mess around with silly shenanigans in her writing.

Thus, while she certainly still had her fair share of shenanigans, she also involved two main storybeats and developments, the first of which shows up here: the two Kirbys and Anny going out to ask Dedoo for help. Once they find Dedoo, I'll explain why that's actually important.

Oh yeah, I updated the characters page, finally. Just added some characters that appeared for the first time in The Miraculous Treasures / Xiaolin Showdown, plus Billy and Pearl (no one remembers about them anyway). I'm also aware that some bios might have cruel grammar mistakes, some typos and even missing words. While I don't promise perfect grammar (until today I know you spot mistakes in my comics), I will fix the typos and add the missing words, just gimme some time.

I think every Kirby must be thinking every universe has a Keeby in it at this point. Lol, maybe I should throw a Keeby into my comic at some point.

While I've obviously explained what Warp Stars are in previous annotations for those unaware, the ability to summon them from thin air was something unique to 20 Times Kirby's Kirby character. I don't recall the exact specifics of it or anything, but suffice it to say, it's just a thing he can do in this comic, and just this comic.

Looking back, I do greatly enjoy the direction Gigi took with her opportunity of having two Kirbys at her disposal. The way that she used KA Kirby's more serious aspects to contrast with her own Kirby's sheer silliness was a good source of minor conflict and comedic tension, especially the competitive angle her Kirby would take.

I'm unsure how to scale Galacta Knight and Xiaolin with that super strong power of the four elements. I'm pretty certain Xiaolin would easily beat Galacta Knight so the comparison is a weak one. Also, my comic hasn't even ended so right now there's no way to compare the two... I mean only I know what Kirby will be up against somewhat soon.

The comparions my Kirby made during this chapter were all not important anyway, he's just being silly.

And here, we have Larry, the yellow Cutter-wielding Kirby. Larry is going to become extremely important to this crossover in a few pages. Keep an eye on Larry.

Gigi self-admitted that the way she veered towards writing my KA characters was that she based them on combinations of how she would write her own characters. For example, you'll notice in this page is a sleeping brown Kirby. This character, Valoo, not only would be sleepy, but also had an obsession with chocolate. Thus, when Gigi was tasked with writing for Caiya in this segment, she based how she wrote Caiya on how she also might write for Valoo.

This is worth noting because Larry here dictated how Gigi handled Kaxo, and that's about to become... a Debacle, to put it mildly. And none of it is Gigi's fault, for the record.

Well, okay, we both could've been communicative, like I just talked about in the previous annotation, but still, I'd still assign the blame/fault for what's about to happen on, like, 15% Gigi and 85% myself. I'm the one who turned it into a big deal to begin with, anyway, but I'm once again getting ahead of myself.

...but not for long! Kaxo the hero of anto boredom is here to... Burn stuff.

20TK Kirby giving a bit of an explanation of the events of the comic, and even getting around to the one bit that I have yet to mention: the 21st clone. I'll fully annotate him later, cause he does actually show up in the crossover near the end. For now, just know that he's not exactly a protagonist, and like 20TK Kirby says, he doesn't live with the other 20 clones.

You may have noticed at this point a bit of a visual thing with 20 Times Kirby pages, and that's that their panels could often be relatively static. It's an easy trap to fall into with comics, especially ones as dialogue-focused as Gigi's, so I don't heavily blame her for it. It's just the natural result of focusing on the writing first, visuals second, rather than the more comic-appropriate approach of visuals and writing being equal in importance.

It's not exactly something I was perfect at either, to dunk on myself as well, and for what it's worth, sprite comics made it even easier to fall into this trap since the art was all almost already done compared to, y'know, drawing a comic page one's self.

But there are definitely some pages of 20TK where it's more noticeable than others, and this Warp Star flying scene was one such type of page. On the plus side, Gigi eventually figured out her preference/focus on dialogue, and in current days focuses on doing straight-up prose rather than comics (at least as far as I'm aware), so she's playing to her strengths and learned her own lessons from 20TK, which is a good thing.

That is one competitive Kirby.

20 Times Kirby has a bit of a weird relationship with metatextual elements, despite its relative seriousness and story focus. They're minor things in the grand scheme of things, but even minor things can take one out of a story if they're immersion-breaking enough.

In this instance, the minor thing is the fact that the Nintendo Wii exists in this dimension, alongside games such as the namedropped Mario Kart Wii. (The Kirby mentioning it is specifically only bringing it up because it's the game he wants to play, and is actively heading out to go play). Does it make sense how and why Nintendo and Mario exist in a Kirby universe? Not really, but there IS technically precedent for it.

In the Great-Cave Offensive subgame of Kirby Super Star and Ultra, there exist a bunch of treasures to collect, and several of the treasures are Nintendo-related memorabilia, from products to references to other game universes (such as Zelda's Triforce or a Donkey Kong Barrel). So... it's both a fitting reference, and yet the slightly greater attention brought to it combined with a more serious tone of the comic compared to the original game means it's more questionable despite itself.

Remember when I described Valoo earlier in my annotations as loving chocolate and being an inspiration for how Gigi wrote Caiya? Haha, even in my annotations I can do effective foreshadowing.

Zan here is a unique case among the various Kirby clones, as he has multiple copy abilities. There are a few single-use screen-nuke abilities in the game, the explosive Crash, the musical Mike, and the culinary Cook. Zan was given all three abilities at once, to give those powers a bit more stability since on their own, they can't do as much as any other power.

Thus, Zan has the Cook copy ability, and thus is an expert chef. He's friends with Valoo, who's chocolate obsessed, and Gigi took the opportunity to mess with both food-obsessed hyperactive characters while she had them.

Looking back on this page, and just this page, I don't really know how I feel personally about Gigi's Kirby having different personality modes. It's not my comic or character, obviously, but I guess from a writing perspective, especially in a comic with such a huge cast already, giving multiple personality modes to the main lead is potentially confusing and disjointed.

However, I also don't really remember this factoid in a general sense, either, so it may not have even come up all too often anyway. His various personalities mesh well enough that I'd probably argue that this particular page and its explanation is also a bit of an exaggeration, but then again, I'm just going entirely off of memory anyway, so I'll just shut up.

Instead, I'll talk about how Gigi was writing my own Kirby, since it was pretty impactful for me while reading her handle him. While still serious, Gigi was able to look at not just the more recent KA pages, but ALL of them, while figuring out how to write my Kirby. So in addition to being mature and grounded, he was still able to be light-hearted and, for example, have a laughing fit about a nonsense conversation. It was a far cry from the grumpy, always-cynical Kirby that I had been writing the past several chapters, myself.

It's why I said at the time, and would still say now, that Gigi was writing my Kirby better than I was writing my Kirby at the time, and I used that as motivation to try to really, substantially improve my own Kirby writing going forward. This was the kick up the backside I needed, essentially, not in spite but in terms of "this is what I ought to be doing too, she has set a good example for me".

You can't really have a proper nonsense contest without either Roger or his sister from CRFH, because only they know all of the rules.

Larry and Kaxo scheming together wasn't an inherently bad idea on the part of Gigi, but one thing I do find awkward about all this is how relatively childish all of the phrasing of it is. Not in a second-language type of thing that results in wording like "Is this even a quiz?" instead of "Is this a quiz?", or inventing the word "bullynable", that's a more understandable language issue thing of the time.

No, it's moreso the repeated use of the term 'bully'. At the very least in my own experience, people who are bullies don't actually call what they're doing 'bullying'. To me, at least, it makes a lot of the conversation a bit goofy-sounding when it's not really intended to be. But oh well.

In the end, Kaxo finding a kindred spirit in someone else who likes to mess with others is very reasonable, especially considering his own relationship with Vezo thus far. As far as what's been shown in Kirby Adventure, it's pretty accurate and fair. I'll be going somewhere with this line of thought.

In all honesty this doesn't sound like something Kaxo would do... But I know the end of story, haha!

People really got annoyed at Gigi for having her Kirby be obliviously accurate like this, which I will find endlessly amusing since it's so obvious what she was intending here and yet people acted like her Kirby was being intentionally dickish.

I don't recall what chapter of 20 Times Kirby involved the True Arena, but her Kirby did wind up fighting through it, and clearly based on the context and suspiciously-specific denial, her Kirby fought against Marx during that tournament and the Galacta Knight he fought during that tournament wasn't the real Galacta Knight.

Actually, thinking back on it more, the Galacta Knight that 20TK Kirby fought might've actually been the aforementioned Lindroganti instead? Since based on all of the context of the lines provided, he was implied to be someone who could take on disguises, and this sounds right based on my memory. So, there's that.

I noticed Ultimate Yoshi didn't comment on this one.
Also,another example.of Kirby's weird gift of prophecy.

This tan Kirby here is Natty, and she is one of Matt's racing friends. She's a bit underdeveloped in these specific pages, since Gigi didn't need to, like, establish who Natty was to readers of her own comic, y'know? So her personality doesn't stand out too much. Just know that she's a good gal and the most level-headed of her racing trio.

Gigi would later say that Saia was one of her main character regrets of this chapter, since she felt pretty underutilized. I think the main issue with that, in retrospect, was that the Kaxo/Larry stuff would wind up eating up a lot of time for the other characters, and most of the problems also got resolved by Gigi's own characters.

In that sense, aside from KA Kirby, none of the KA cast really had an impact on the events that occured, and so aside from Kaxo and Raize who were able to be shown in multiple scenes with recurring 20TK characters, KA characters like Saia just didn't have much to do when they didn't have an impactful role or connection to anyone around.

To that extent, it's a natural consequence of how Gigi formatted her own chapter's plot. Half of the time was spent with the two Kirbys conversing as they traveled to find Dedoo and bring him back to the house, and the other half of the time was split across all four other KA characters, which mostly wound up revolving around Larry and Kaxo's soon-to-be-shown mischief. Thus, the other characters didn't have much plot to involve themselves in, and were all competing for limited screentime.

This may just be me misremembering, but I do think this was a bit of foreshadowing for 20TK Kirby losing someone? Not in the same kind of way as KA Kirby losing KA Keeby, though, and I could be completely off the mark at least. But that's what this feels like to me, writing-wise.

Gigi using the crossover to focus on her own Kirby and push him a tiny bit into more serious territory with my own Kirby was a good move on her part. While not a ton happens in this crossover, plot-wise, it did at least give her Kirby an interesting comparison to make for himself personally, and developed him further with this kind of scenario he found himself in.

Looking back, I do think that Gigi made a small misstep in how this situation got resolved with Kirsy showing up like this. Considering Natty, Saia, and Raize were already present in the scene, it would've been fitting for them three to deal with Larry and Kaxo's piñata shenanigans, rather than having Kirsy show up and usurp that position as well.

That way, at the very least, a problem caused by a 20TK character and a KA character would've been resolved by a 20TK character and some KA characters. But instead, another unrelated 20TK character stepped in and took care of it instead, and that messes with both the pacing and character involvement.

Dedoo's only appearance in 20 Times Kirby prior to this point was in flashback sequences, explaining the backstories of the clones. Gigi forgot about that when initially writing this, and the fact that Dedoo was mentioned to have moved away in that flashback, as she admits underneath this annotation. So she had to scramble to figure out a quick workaround for the Kirbys traveling to the wrong location. Is it a bit contrived? Maybe, but it doesn't mess with the pacing at least, so it's an appropriate enough handwave.

Originally a plot hole, back to the planning of the chapter (simply a summary of what's gonna happen in each page), as I had forgotten that Dedoo doesn't live in Peanut Plains anymore. Just when I actually made the comic where Anny said that Dedoo lived there that I noticed it. After all, back in A Memorable Morning, Meta stated that Dedoo had moved after the cloning machine was stolen, or else today we would have multiple clones of Panee. (To refresh your memory: http://20xkirby.smackjeeves.com/comics/1386474/a-memorable-morning-part-5/ ) And it wouldn't make sense if Dedoo went back living in the same place he used to, mainly that now he is afraid of having his machines stolen again. So what, Anny made a mistake, we all do sometimes. And we are lucky sometimes too.

Ummm.. hello, my name is king ..ummm... Deedee ..er.. Doo ..son. yeah. And I'm there to CLEAN YOUR CLOCK.

This was the first page that sparked a lot of controversy in the immediate future, and once again I would like to reiterate that the vast majority of it is my own fault.

So, for context, while reading Gigi's pages as she posted them, I was a bit unsure of how she was handling Kaxo. I kept seeing the lines of dialogue she was giving him, and raising an eyebrow at them. Nobody else seemed to be taking issue with it, but me personally, I was going "hm" a whole heck of a lot.

The problem was, I had developed Kaxo in my head a while back, around mid-Chapter 2, early-Chapter 3 areas of Kirby Adventure (so, like, around the time of Jetting Across the Ice.) It was information that hadn't directly made it into the comic yet, but Kaxo was more to me than just a violent brute. True to my typical writing style, I had started with a simple base and then expanded it and developed it over time to be a more fully-formed character.

I had developed Kaxo into a fully-fleshed out character... exclusively in my head. Everybody else? Was still working with what was more-or-less just the base premise of violent brute.

So the fault with all of this lies with me. I was so insistent on maintaining my secrecy that I neglected to inform the person writing Kaxo about his hidden depths. Like I've been hammering in home constantly during these crossover annotations: Communication. Is. Important.

Since I had neglected to be up-front with Gigi and properly work with her on my characters, I was left with a Kaxo who wasn't shaping up to my exclusive expectations and desires. Now, this wouldn't normally be too touchy of a problem, it'd be something I disliked in the crossover but would've been something I could've gotten over at the time.

Then this page happened.

It was two specific lines that really caused problems for me, lines that I personally didn't think I could just ignore at the time (realistically? Yes, I could've absolutely fucking ignored them, or tried to explain them away in a different method than I actually did, but that's in retrospect.) The lines at issue were:
"Why would I [care about others]?" and Kaxo also not arguing against Larry wanting Raven to have actually died during this stunt.

This was more than just violence, this was actual sociopathic and psychopathic behavior, and was a heavy exaggeration of even the typical violent brute Kaxo. It's another consequence of Gigi using her own characters as a base for my own, since this was something she also was doing with Larry within this same page.

Gigi's direction with her own characters was her own decision, and she worked with Larry after this crossover further to develop him more and work with this extremist violent tendencies, but for me, I could only see it as a really huge issue all of a sudden.

At the time, I still didn't truly blame Gigi, but I was an idiot teenager who wasn't exactly good at making decisions or articulating my thoughts properly, nor do I think I really took my fair share of the blame for not telling Gigi about Kaxo in the first place. So what this all means is that I felt like I had a sudden need to explain away what I felt was a massive character breach of Kaxo that I just couldn't let go ignored.

So, this is only the first of the issues this caused in the long run. Woohoo.

It's an amusing gag in some fashion, but the more I think about this, the less this quite makes sense to me. Why? Because Dedoo, skeptic as he is, also built a cloning machine, it's like the main plot of the entire comic.

I don't quite see why he'd see two identical Kirbys and immediately accept that it was interdimensional travel, not when he knows cloning is real and that he was so adamant that interdimensional travel was a myth.

But putting that aside, proving a skeptic wrong always makes for amusing comedy. Even if the Pokémon battle dialogue reference in the realization panel is a bit over-the-top.

I have a theory. Daisy´s machine localized this dimension using the first energy signature it detected in infraspace, using the power of the kirbies and the copy abilities as a way to there, the kirbies going to the alpha dimension and the copy abilities mixing with their respective spot, thus why the copy abilities are gone and how the machine worked

Rest in Strawberry Shortcake Deedoo. His mind is now in a grey puddle on the floor.

Remember when I said that the 21st clone would show up later in the crossover? Here he is now. This is Panee, the white Kirby, who is the black sheep of the clones.

He's a major character who's mostly on his own side, neither hero nor villain. Unlike the other clones who got tossed aside, Marx specifically kept Panee after seeing what the incomplete clones could turn into, and trained Panee to be his minion. Marx made for an awful boss, though, so Panee defected as soon as he could.

He doesn't necessarily dislike the other Kirbys, but mostly just wanted to be left alone and take care of himself, doing his own thing, that sort of vibe. I don't exactly recall what he was up to in this page, though, but it was foreshadowing for something to come later down the line, that much is obvious. It's not relevant for the crossover.

Panee's copy ability is the Copy ability. It's a bit of a silly power in Kirby Super Star that simply lets Kirby copy a power without eating an enemy, using a sort of scanning headset. It's a bit redundant for most of the game, except for a side mode that negates Kirby's typical copy ability powers. In 20 Times Kirby, giving Panee the Copy power meant that he was able to use any power, making him a much stronger clone compared to everyone else.

Here, he's seen using the Ghost ability, which is actually not a Super Star power at all. It's only in Kirby Squeak Squad, given by the Tedhaun miniboss (which Panee mentions in this thought dialogue). It has Super Star Ultra-styled sprites, though, since in Gourmet Race save data, the best race time saved is represented mid-game via this Ghost Kirby.

It's odd to me how Gigi handwaves away the idea that they could just be clones of each other. It's like she had the same thought I did after the previous comic involving Dedoo, and sought to address it. That's just a guess on my part, though, and I can't fault her for trying to address it. I do think that it's a bit more questionable now than it was before, though, lol. Sometimes, less explanation works better.

Anyways, this is also the handwave explanation I mentioned earlier about the Stored Abilities. After the strange focus it had on Kaxo not being capable of summoning it, setting up that small bit of mystery, it just gets shrugged off amidst a lengthy dialogue page in an aside about how it's just not how planets work in this dimension.

Is it a reasonable explanation? Yeah, but after the Kaxo page, it's also a bit of an anticlimactic way to address it. In retrospect, it would've been better for Gigi if she hadn't done that Kaxo page making it seem like a bigger curiosity than it wound up being.

Though of our two failed mysteries, my whole "darker" thing was a much worse offender, since I took longer to explain it and dedicated way more time to bringing it up before the explanation, lol. So 2013 Gigi still beats 2013 Ulti.

Before you start thinking that the explanation in panel 7 came out of nowhere, go back one chapter, Old Friend, or New Foe. In part 20, there are these two particular panels: http://prntscr.com/r8i17 . Now that's finally explained in comic, Kiggy had found a Crash Copy Ability Deluxe on some planet, and then why did she have the trouble to take the kirbies to another planet to use that to kill them? Couldn't she take them somewhere on Pop Star? And now I can say no, because Copy Ability Deluxe only work on some planets, they don't work on Pop Star, and since Stored Abilities are Copy Abilities Deluxe, the same logic had to be used. I came up with that idea to explain the physics of Milky Way Wishes, and also why Kirby like found all those Abilities and suddenly he lost them all. Blame me for being the logic girl, I just love to come up with explanations for things never explained in-game.

Ghostly Panee didn't cause the malfunction of Daisy's machine, but he did accidentally cause it to stop functioning immediately afterwards, so he was aware enough of the whole 'dimensional travelers' debacle going on around him while he did his stuff. Hence, that's how he realizes who Raize is, after that momentary lack of recognition.

This brown Kirby in the headband is Jake, wielder of the Suplex ability. It's basically a wrestling power. As you can see, he's very absentmindedly philosophical to a point of silliness. In retrospect, I kinda wish I had had him to play with instead of some of the other characters I had from 20TK, but then again, I probably wouldn't have given him a good amount of screentime anyway.

Gigi's use of Raize with Jake and Zan here turned Raize into the third-most-utilized KA character she had. Raize's tendency to take to the background meant that Gigi wasn't sure of how best to use him, but I think pairing him up with two other relatively chill and mature characters of hers was the right call. Maybe he was a bit goofier than I'd have written him, but after the way I've been talking about how I was writing Gigi's characters, that's basically par for the course. All's fair, ain't it?

And you may notice that this update is late, right? Well, I don't have the best news, but I feel I should tell the whole thing. I post the comics at 5 PM my time, and it was 4 PM when it started raining. Ok, summer rain, normal. But then it started raining way too much. Ok again, since it was happening some days ago too. But it ended up that it started raining much harder. The wind was too loud. It started hailing as well. I could hear all the water falling from the sky, like someone was throwing water at my city. Funnily enough, I still had power. I even thought about posting the comic before, if I had no power later, but I decided not too, since all these days it hadn't happened. So, while all this was happening, my mom said once "It's the end of the world!". Yeah, honestly, it seemed like that. I decided to take a look at my apartment to see what was happening around. In my bros' "play room", it was raining so hard that, even with the windows closed, the water was passing underneath the window! That's right! The scene was pretty scary. And the rain was just getting worse. I went back to my bedroom. And then I heard something. Something loud. A crack. A glass crack! At first I thought it was my bedroom's window, but it was not. I realized it had came from the living room, so I went there. In fact, it had happened there. I dunno the name in English of the place that glass door connected too, maybe I'll search and tell you but it's not the time, but what happened there is that that door broke with the wind. There was glass all around the living room. My mom came there, as she had went to my bros' bedroom to see the mess, and saw the scene. And then she exclamed: "I was there seconds before! If I hadn't left, I would have been hit by all this glass!" And god, it was true what she had just said. And if that had happened, I dunno what would happen after that. There was only me and my 12 year bro there. My dad was at word and my almost 4 year old bro was at school. I doubt we would be really able to help our mom. Well, that's the worst part. Also, right after that, power went away. So, that's basically the whole bad thing.
Well, everyone here is ok. The living room is back to normal, except for the glass door which is going to be fixed soon. I just know that after all the panic I realized I had no power, and I had not posted the 20TK page for today. Well, I started panicking. But then I came with a solution. The power in my apartment right now is weird. Half of it has power, half of it has not. And obviously, the half of it who has no power has my bedroom there. And in my bedroom, there is also the router, so we have no internet. But then, every now and then, almost all the apartment has power for like 7 minutes. So I realized I could use those times to post the comic. But not in my computer, mainly because I don't think it would turn on fastly enough for me to post the page. So I grabbed my dad's laptop, and put it to charge in my bros' "play room", where the power is normal always. But then, what about the page image? As a coincidence, two weeks ago I started to make a backup of all my comic stuff in my dad's thing-I-dunno-the-name-in-English (it's some stuff which has over 250 GB and you can put stuff), every Sunday. So, I had this next page saved there. Everything was solved. Right now, I'm typing this comment in bros' room, uncomfortably and waiting until the power goes back, for my router to work for 7 minutes so that I can post the page. Fun, eh? So, I hope you guys understand it. I just couldn't let this comic not to be updated because of that, since I had a solution. And thanks for reading this, if you did. Also, if there are any grammar, spelling or whatever mistakes, I'm sorry, I'm typing this way too quickly. :P

Gigi didn't mind being silly when she could afford to be, but in pages like this, the end result could be a bit hit or miss depending on the person. Comedy is subjective, after all.

Gigi was one of the ones who read Tear in the Fabric and saw it for what it was: a nonsensical and unreasonable mess of a story that made no sense, and she wasn't afraid to question it or poke fun about it at the time. I can't say I blame her, but in the moment, it stung a bit more than it should've, because I was a dumb thin-skinned kid still learning how to take criticism.

This was good-natured ribbing after I had already admitted Tear in the Fabric had failed, and yet I still took this silly panel a bit more personally than I should've, which perhaps dictated one of my upcoming bad decisions. Man, was I a dumb kid.

Anyways, silly Dedoo, we all know Princess Luna is the best pony.
(If you were unaware, that's a My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic reference in that last panel. Many fans tended to argue over who their favorite character, or 'best pony', was.)

This, I believe, is just more foreshadowing and setting up for future 20 Times Kirby chapters. It's a bit mixed, in some ways.

On the one hand, in a more story-oriented comic like 20 Times Kirby, using a crossover to set up things and continue focusing on her own plotlines was a reasonable thing to do. Larry's violent tendencies got escalated, Panee's foreshadowing some machine shenanigans for the future, and Dedoo got brought into the comic properly rather than remain a flashback-only character (and Dedoo would continue to remain involved throughout the remainder of the comic, iirc). So to that extent, the crossover was pretty effective for Gigi, time-wise.

On the other hand, a crossover's best aspects are fanservice and character interactions. Doing things that wouldn't otherwise be possible, and letting fans have fun seeing characters interact who otherwise would never normally get to. And with Gigi's approach, outside of Kirby, most of the KA cast didn't get involved with things. Caiya and Saia were heavy victims of this, but even Raize and Kaxo mostly played second fiddle to the 20TK characters they were seen with.

I think that, in retrospect (and the advice I would give Gigi if I could travel back in time) would've been to try to use KA characters to further her plot points more, rather than using her own characters. Saia being the one to rescue Raven from Larry rather than Kirsy bursting in, Raize or smart-Caiya trying to help fix Daisy's machine, things like that. Maybe Panee enlisting the help of one of the KA Kirbies, taking advantage of the fact that they wouldn't know anything about him. There's potential there, methinks, for something that could accomplish all the plot goals Gigi had while still being a bit more of a fanservice-y crossover.

And in case you can't tell, Panee is 100% invisible, but I'm showing him transparent because or else it would be weird when I focused on him, since you'd see nothing.
And, huh, I tried to create a TV Tropes page for this comic, but I got confused since I had never done that before. So, I wanted to know if anyone who would be interested in that page would be kind enough to create it for me, but please, let me know before you do so. Thank you.

So... yeah. To be frank, even without my personal qualms about Kaxo, I think this was a bit of a misstep on Gigi's part just in general.

Ignoring everything about Kaxo, the fact that Larry got away with attempted murder without even a literal slap on the wrist was really disappointing and a bit aggravating. No comeuppance, an interrupted scolding, and no consequences for his actions.

The fact that it meant that Kaxo also didn't get consequences wasn't lost on me either, and that was the part that I really wound up focusing on, myself, but yeah. The shifting of focus from bullies getting properly reprimanded into "oh but there's one last issue to resolve" was a bit of wonky pacing.

At the very least, I think Gigi could've probably utilized Saia to continue the reprimand after the Kirbys got their attention taken away by Dedoo. But again, hindsight is 20/20.

I feel like Kirsy... bullies are mean and since pink shirt day I haaaaayte bullies and I just wish they'd stop and they're too STUBBORN and I'M THE ONLY STUBBORN ONE AROUND HERE!!!

Looking back, I think Gigi involving Panee in this crossover in this particular way was a bit of a mistake. Not necessarily him showing up and setting up a few plans of his own mysteriously, but the fact that he stuck around invisibly and brought himself the focus of several pages as a result.

The ultimate conclusion of this is just that he leaves anyway in another page, so it doesn't really amount to much, him sticking around, and those precious pages could've helped Gigi utilize the KA cast a bit more, or at the very least put a bit more focus on reprimanding Larry more.

But like I keep saying, hindsight is 20/20. It's easy to see how to improve these things, a decade's worth of hindsight and experience down the line.

Gigi loved to provide explanations for things, which was great for logistics and sensibilities, but a little less great for pacing sometimes. I think it comes down to information presentation: it's not that the info is bad, it's that it's a bit wordy and not concise enough.

It's not something unique to Gigi, or to comics at all. It's an issue plaguing many a person who wants to explain things: how to present your info in ways that it gets the point across without truncating necessary bits or boring the audience. There's a fine line to walk, and needless to say, I don't think any teenager would be able to walk it, let alone one who's doing explanations for a silly Kirby comic online.

That's not a dunk against Gigi or against Kirby comics, it's just highlighting the relativeness of the issues. When actual scientists or professors or whatnot are struggling to convey their extremely important scientific or political or educational information to their audience, of course it's gonna permeate through smaller subject matters like comic writing.

My theory
Daisy´s machine localized this dimension using the first energy signature it detected in infraspace, using the power of the kirbies and the copy abilities as a way to there, the kirbies going to the alpha dimension and the copy abilities mixing with their respective spot, thus why the copy abilities are gone and how the machine worked

I think that the fact the interdimensional travel caused something to happen to the kirbies, thus causing a rift in time and space, thus causing the kirbies to disappear from existence completely, not even to wander dimensions like Lady Timpani. They will simply be gone, not in any parellel universe will they exist
